Tips and Ideas For
An Outside Wedding Idea
An outdoor wedding can be unique, elegant, and a lot of fun.
If you are looking for an outside wedding idea we can help!
This type of wedding allows you to do some neat things that you can't
do with a traditional inside wedding. Being able to get married in the
fresh air under the warm sun or night sky has a certain mystique about
it that can't be matched by an indoor wedding.
Below is the who, what, where and when for an outside wedding idea.
Who Should Have An Outside Wedding
Anyone that dreams of having a wedding in a garden, under a tent or
anywhere else outside should definitely consider it. They may, however,
not be right for everyone.
There is a certain amount of unpredictability with an outside wedding.
Weather can play a large part in determining the outcome of your
wedding. There are generally more things to coordinate when planning
this type of wedding which may or may not be a problem for you.
The general rule is to have a solid backup plan. This will alleviate
most concerns about weather.
Location, Location, Location
There are many excellent locations to consider for an outside wedding
idea. Here are a few:
- A tented wedding affair is hard to beat. Having your
reception under the stars is about as romantic as it gets, and they are
also a lot of fun.
- Many Bed and Breakfasts and Inns have gardens and other
outdoor areas that work perfectly as well as larger hotels and resorts.
- If you have enough space to pull it off, a backyard
wedding can be a great option and potentially help lower your
budget.
- Beach
Weddings allow you to tie the knot with your feet in the sand.
- Many cities and towns have public parks that can be rented
for weddings.
As mentioned above, have a contingency plan in place in case of bad
weather. If the location you are considering doesn't have an indoor
location available, find a nearby indoor location or choose another
outdoor location for your wedding.
Choosing A Season
Obviously you would not want to have your outside wedding idea in the
middle of winter in Michigan. Generally speaking Fall, Spring and
Summer are the best seasons.
Winter
is a possibility in warmer places like Florida, Mexico and the
Caribbean.
Fall is the
most popular option for an outdoor wedding in many regions of the US.
The temperature is usually just about right, and being outside lets you
and your guests enjoy the fall foliage and other harvest-season
highlights.
In Spring
you will get to enjoy flowers as they are just starting to bloom and
generally mild temperatures.
Summer
is also an option, however in most parts of the US you run the risk of
it being very hot on the day of your wedding.
Outdoor Wedding Attire
Most brides choose traditional, formal gowns for an outside wedding.
Something to consider is the season of your wedding which may influence
the type of dress you choose for yourself or your wedding party.
Also a growing trend is to have a formal dress for the ceremony and
another dress for the reception. What you decide will be based on what
is important to you and the overall style of your wedding.
For beach weddings, many brides opt for a less formal
tropical wedding dress,
however it can still be acceptable to wear a more formal gown.
The groom and groomsmen may wear casual suits or linen pants and white
or tropical shirts for beach or tropical weddings. Traditional tuxedos
are still the most popular choice for tented and more formal affairs.
